Many of my brothers an sisters Christians sometimes ask me what God’s promises are. And I can tell you that: God promises he will fulfill in his time. We who love Jesus our Savior live by faith; and it is faith that gives us the strength to wait on God, because He will not abandon us.
God’s greatest promises for those of us who love him are in Psalm 91; a powerful invocation that when recited in faith; makes the Most High listen to us because He does not forget his words.
Psalm 91. God’s promises.
who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to Jehovah: My refuge and my castle my God in whom I trust!
This first part of the psalm is a confirmation of our faith: where we show the creator that we trust him, that no one is more powerful than him; and that under his protection we are safe from all evil. From this verse his promises to us begin.
Because he will deliver you from the trap of the hunter and the destructive plague. With his feathers he will cover you and under his wings you will take refuge. Shield and defense is the truth of him.
You will not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the plague that walks in the dark, nor of the plague that destroys in the middle of the day. A thousand will fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not reach you. Surely with your eyes you will look and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord who is my refuge, the Most High as your home. No harm will befall you, nor will the plague approach your tent. For he will give orders to his angels to be close to you to keep you in all your ways. In his hands they will carry you so that your foot does not trip on a stone.
Psalm 91: 13-16 Confirmation of God’s Promises
On the lion and the cobra you will tread; you will see the lion and the serpent. Because he in me he has put his love, I will free him, I will put him on high, because he has known my name!
He will invoke me and I will answer him; with him I will be in anguish. I will deliver him and glorify him. I will satisfy him with long life and I will show him my salvation.
